CLARENS HOUSE IN A UNIQUE, DELIGHTFUL HOLIDAY HOME IN CLARENS.
THE OWNERS ATTEMPTED TO COMBINE THE LOCAL SANDSTONE, RUSTIC BARN, AND EARTHLY ELEMENTS TO ENSURE THIS LAID-BACK, HOMELY ATMOSPHERE.

The house offers two bedrooms – each with a queen-sized bed – and accommodation for four guests, with the option of additional mattresses for kids.  The one room is upstairs in the loft, with an ensuite bathroom, elegant free-standing bath, and beautiful, stylish touches. The downstairs bedroom, also featuring an ensuite bathroom with shower, behind a closed door for privacy, provides a comfortable space, with a wooden ceiling.

The living area is truly authentic and full of character with its spacious layout, combined with a breath-taking view from the balcony that invites light and air inside. The glass sliding doors open onto relaxing patios, one of which is covered for outdoor living in case of rainy weather.  The indoor braai and outdoor fire pit provide a choice of where to relax.  In addition, the fireplace will ensure warm, cosy winter evenings in the heart of the Eastern Free State.

The living area incorporates an open-plan, well-equipped, self-catering kitchen with gas stove and oven, as well as a built-in braai and good uncapped Wifi. A wood-burning fireplace will heat the entire living area on cold days, creating the most relaxing and comfortable effect. This is considered the heart of the house during the cold winter months.

For entertainment, there is a smart TV with free Wi-Fi, so guests can access any channel on DSTV or YouTube livestreaming; however, for Netflix you will need your personal login details. There are various outdoor activities for the family in the area, including hiking trails, fly-fishing, mountain biking, hot-air balloon rides, horse trails, tours to dinosaur excavations, and a definite trip to the famous Golden Gate National Park – a must. The nearest starting point for the easily accessible hiking trials (ranging from 10 minutes to 30 minutes) is less than 200 m from the house.

There is enough parking for two to three cars in a really safe and positive environment. Children are welcome; there are two additional folding mattresses available. The house is pet-friendly, and so are many of the nearby short-distance hiking trails. The house is situated less than 100 m from the main square and a minute’s walk from the town centre for shopping and eating out at a variety of restaurants.

Living well doesn’t necessarily mean living large.  This Tiny Home embraces small-scale luxury and enough space to live comfortably during your stay.  Two lofts, each with a double bed, dangling over the kitchen and living area.   Ideal for separate families or a larger group – to occupy the whole yard:  the Tiny Home in addition to the large Clarens House can host altogether 8 adults.

This original mud-build old garage was one of the first buildings in Clarens, nested amongst the orchard that was once part of Frost House’s enclosure next door. 

Cosy, creative and unique.  Inside, you’ll find high-end finishes, practical interior – ideal for a family of four.  Relaxed atmosphere and serenity, especially waking up with the view from the small Heidi-like windows in the lofts.  Sleeper couch on the ground floor can also be used for an additional person/kid.  

Kitchen fully equipped with everything you need, including minimalist appliances and cutlery to serve six.  Ensure that everyone in this tiny house is well acquainted, as the bathroom and shower is also part of the open plan idea fitting all into the 17m² floor spacing.
